The island’s northern tip feels wonderfully removed. Come for broad views where Tampa Bay meets the Gulf, a peaceful walk and sunset. Access is by neighborhood beach paths; parking is limited and there are no major facilities.
A relaxed alternative to the Gulf side with views toward the Sunshine Skyway, picnic space and calmer scenery. It pairs naturally with Pine Avenue and the City Pier area.
A practical choice when your group values facilities, food nearby and easier access. It is livelier than the north end and makes a good central-island meeting point.
At the south end, Coquina offers a long shoreline and a different island perspective. Combine it with Bridge Street or a drive along Longboat Key.
Parking fills quickly in popular weeks. Walk or bike when your rental makes that possible, use marked public access only, and never block a driveway or private property.
Bring water, reef-conscious sun protection and only what you can carry. Fill holes, flatten sandcastles and take chairs and gear off the beach at day’s end—especially during sea turtle nesting season.
Walk the north end while the sand is cool, then stop for breakfast or coffee around Pine Avenue.
Choose a beach near facilities, or return to your private pool when the island is warmest.
Head back to the Gulf early, leave time to park, and stay after sunset as the sky changes.
